About The Joyful K9:
Positive, Reward-Based Dog Training

The Joyful K9 was founded by Christi Farley to support compassionate, dedicated dog owners who want to train without pain, force, or intimidation. We are committed to helping families understand their dogs, strengthen communication, and build behavior that lasts.  Proudly serving families and their dogs in the Dallas, TX area, including Garland, Plano, Allen, Wylie, Sachse, Rowlett, Rockwall, Lavon, and Frisco.

We focus on:

  • Educating dog owners—from brand‑new puppy parents to experienced handlers—on canine behavior, body language, and real‑life training skills at home and in public.
  • Empowering dogs and their people to build a strong, trusting relationship through clear, two‑way communication.
  • Teaching effective training without reliance on constant food luring or tools such as prong, shock, or choke chains.
  • Setting dogs up for success in obedience and loose‑leash walking through predictable routines, appropriate nutrition, and balanced mental and physical enrichment.
  • Providing individualized guidance in class so owners learn exactly what they need to address their dog’s specific challenges, rather than following a rigid, one‑size‑fits‑all agenda.

Meet Christi Farley

For more than 30 years, dogs have been at the center of my life—shaping how I learn, teach, and connect with the world. Long before I became a professional trainer, I was simply someone who wanted to understand dogs deeply: their emotions, their needs, and the small signals that tell us who they are.

My path to dog training was shaped by 16 years in education, first as a high school teacher and later as a corporate educator. Those experiences taught me how people learn, how to break big skills into approachable steps, and how to support both dogs and humans through the messy, meaningful process of growth.

Working through challenging behaviors with my own dogs gave me a profound empathy for families who feel stuck or overwhelmed. That personal experience fuels my commitment to compassionate, science‑based training that supports both ends of the leash.

I’m especially passionate about early puppy development. Strong foundations—thoughtful socialization, positive reinforcement, and proactive routines—can prevent so many struggles later in life. Helping families start strong is one of my favorite parts of this work.

To ensure the training I offer is grounded in the best available knowledge, I’ve completed more than 500 hours of continuing education through the Fenzi Dog Sports Academy, focusing on behavioral wellness, cooperative care, positive reinforcement, and early puppy development. I’m also an AKC CGC and STAR Puppy Evaluator.
